Trash Pickup after Hurricane Dorian
A note from Lake County...
Solid Waste
Lake County Solid Waste will collect Monday’s residential trash on a limited schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 3, but will not collect on Wednesday, Sept. 4 due to Hurricane Dorian. Residential collections for residents living in unincorporated Lake County (not within municipal city limits) who normally have curbside collection services for household garbage, recycling or yard waste on Monday, will instead have collection on Tuesday this week. Only those whose normal collection is before noon on Monday will be picked up. All other households should wait until Thursday and secure their trash.
All other trash collection this week will occur two days after normal collection. This means those with normal collection on Tuesday will receive collection on Thursday, and so on, through Sunday. Solid Waste has also suspended bulk trash pickup due to Hurricane Dorian until Friday.
The Lake County Landfill, located at 13130 County Landfill Road, Tavares, will be open on Tuesday, Sept. 3 as weather permits, but closed on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
The week of Sept. 9 will follow a holiday collection schedule, with unincorporated residential collections shifting a day. Those who normally have residential curbside collection services for household garbage, recycling or yard waste on Monday, Sept. 9, will instead have collection on Tuesday, Sept. 10 and so on. All collection days that week will move to the next day, and Friday collection will be picked up on Saturday.
Any additional changes to collection following the storm will be announced. Residents are encouraged to secure yard waste and trash prior to the storm.
